Background:

Sitio Coxo Velho is a small farm of about 30 hectares, with 15 planted in coffee. Owner Silvanei de Souza has had a long history in coffee, as he was born into a coffee family and started helping his father when he was just 7 years old. He has always lived at Sitio Coxo Vehlo, and he is joined by his wife and daughter to tend to the trees, as well as a "meeiro"or a farm manager, and seasonal workers during the harvest. The harvest is partially mechanized and meticulously sorted at one of Carmo Coffees'"beneficios."
